Network for Good Donate Button

Cancer Support Community provides comprehensive support services for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and families. All of our programs are provided free of charge to people affected by cancer, to be readily accessible during their time of need.

Your support makes a difference! Cancer Support Community is supported entirely by generous donations from community members like you, as well as members of the foundation and corporate community who believe that no one should face cancer alone. Community donations determine how many people we are able to serve, and thanks to donor generosity that number has grown. Donations assisted us in reaching more than 2,000 people with free cancer support groups and services last year.

We are so grateful for your generosity, and hope that you will always feel welcome to share Cancer Support Community with anyone you know who is facing cancer.

Honor & Remember in the Garden of Hope

The Garden of Hope is a place to quietly reflect and restore your spirits. It features a lovely outdoor seating area with redwood arbor and fencing, richly planted trees, shrubs, perennials, and a fountain that provides calm and refreshing sound. Your commemorative brick will be a visible part of the pathway. Each brick may be inscribed in many ways, such as those listed below:

Each commemorative brick is $250. For more information contact Amy Alanes by email or at 925.933.0107.

Planned Giving

Our Planned Giving program offers supporters the opportunity to ensure that services and support will be here for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and their families during their greatest time of need. Whether it is a simple bequest through your will or trust, a life insurance or IRA beneficiary designation, or another type of planned giving — your legacy gift will ensure that these invaluable services will be here for those facing cancer for many years to come.

The Shannon McGowan Society

Shannon McGowan served as Program Director of the first Cancer Support Community (formerly The Wellness Community), based in Santa Monica. She then relocated to Walnut Creek and founded Cancer Support Community SF Bay Area (formerly The Wellness Community SF East Bay) in 1990, where she served as Executive Director and Program Director for several years.

When you make a legacy gift through your will, trust or other planned giving, you are honored by becoming a member of the Shannon McGowan Society.

As a Shannon McGowan Society honoree, you will have the satisfaction of making cancer support services available for those in need. Your name will be displayed in our lounge as an inspiration to others, and you will be invited to exclusive events and activities.

Please feel welcome to contact James Bouquin, President, at 925.933.0107 or by email, for more information about how to leave a legacy in a manner that benefits you, your heirs, and the mission of Cancer Support Community.

Thank you for making a difference.

Shop at Cornucopia

Cornucopia is a consignment store of fine household goods and furnishings, located on the Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek border. It is the only consignment store in the region which is operated by a charitable organization and staffed by volunteers. All of Cornucopia’s proceeds underwrite the care for cancer patients and their families at Cancer Support Community (formerly known as The Wellness Community).

Thank You!

We know that you have many choices when it comes to putting your charitable gifts to work. We are honored by your trust, and we carefully steward each donor gift, with more than 82 cents of each dollar spent directly on programs and services. The involvement of community volunteers also helps to keep our costs low, so you can have confidence that your gift is doing the most good in helping those in need in your community.
